The Mini a British icon and a Gas Power UK ltd masterpiece
Here is another car that was said to be unconvertible as
there is little room for the tank. However, Gas Power UK technician Rex Spencer
had a trick or two up his sleeve.
The problem was that the boot is simply too small, and what
space there is, is filled with a battery, a fuel tank, and a spare wheel.
Rex Spencer came up with the idea that he could hang the
tank from the steel plate behind the rear passenger seats using 8 bolts to
support the small tank frame.
The engine was going to be a problem too. The air intake
was in a position that meant fitting a mixer would be impossible, so Rex created
a new air intake to give more room and accommodate a Mixer and a large K&N air
filter for improved engine breathing and performance.
The Vaporiser was special too. Not only did it need to be
small enough to fit the only available space in the engine bay (behind the fluid
reservoir of the brake servo), but it also had to be big enough to produce lots
of LPG gas when the engine was running at full tilt.
The filler is mounted under the rear bumper.
