Want to know the process of converting your vehicle to LPG? Well here it is the step by step.

You contact us for a quotation and to discuss the various options available for your particular vehicle.

Once the conversion is agreed payment is made and you vehicle is book in. We can drop back to the Exeter Main Line station and arrange to collect you after conversion if required. We also have courtesy cars but they are loaned out on a first come basis with the customer providing insurance. so you need to book in advance to avoid disappointment

The first job for us is prepping the vehicle bubble wrapping the wings, and covering the seats with a seat covers, covering the gear leaver, hand break, steering wheel with cling film.

Then  we start by planning the installation on your vehicle, identifying the location of the tank that you have chosen, best position for the interior switch as well as the system electronics and finally planning what engine work will be needed to locate the LPG injectors.

We source new gaskets etc as needed and remove the inlet manifold which is then drilled, tapped and cleaned. and reinstalled after the injector nipples have been installed. At the rear of the vehicle the new LPG tank is installed and plumbed in along with the new filler. All bare surfaces are painted and sprayed with anti-rust compounds as needed.

The fuel pipe and wiring is then installed underneath the car taking care not to foul moving components and everything is clipped or strapped to secure it.

Next the wiring is installed into the engine bay, the ECU fitted discretely and all connections are soldered and secured. The interior switch is fitted where it can be seen and accessed easily.

The vaporizers and filters are next installed along with the gas injectors ensuring that it looks neat and tidy and does not interfere with any underbody items. The vaporizers are plumbed into the cars cooling system and the system then checked for water leaks.

A small amount of LPG is then added to the tank and the entire system is checked for security and any leakage using special detectors. All joints are inspected for physical security. The system is then filled and the engine run on Petrol until it reaches normal operating temperature.

Using a laptop and dedicated software, the ECU is then calibrated for use on Gas and the vehicle is taken for a test run during which the ECU 'learns' the correct settings (also called Mapping). Finally the system is fine tuned for optimum economy and idling.

You arrive to collect the vehicle, and you receive training in filling the vehicle, your LPGA Certificate of Conformity, and Gas Power UK Ltd customer Handbook which has datasheets that you can give to your servicing garage that explains spark plug gaps, and any cautions that they should be aware of, the hand book also lists your free services 1000, 5000, 10000, 20000 miles.

Your drive away using LPG the cheaper alternative, We expect you back after approximately 1000 miles so that we can perform the final checks and first service.
