We have done a number of these including a Harley Davison limited addition and supercharged version, which proved to be the biggest challenge as it had not been done before.

The tank is the simple part of the conversion and this lives where the spare wheel lived under the rear tailgate The filler has been placed in a number of places normally in the bodywork on the near side (UK side) of the vehicle. The switch or had set was mounted on the dash.

But the engine was not going to be a normal conversion, for this 5.4 super charged vehicle we had to first get enough LPG to the engine.

We calculated that a 5.4 engine at full tilt would be using the same amount of gas as a 17.2 Lt normally injected engine, so a twin 8mm pipe system was required to feed twin vaporisers mounted in the engine bay along with the biggest injectors available that would not jam under full load.

After all of our calculations we found that the system would respond to normal road use but when the vehicle was put under extreme loads the system failed and changed back to petrol.

After checking the system we found that two components were causing us problems - the flow relief valve on the tank, which was freezing up with frost when running at full tilt - and the filter solenoid that was causing a flow restriction.

It was decided to obtain a specialist 10mm flow valve, which branched into two 8mm pipes and this was a great  improvement from the 6mm flow valve branching into two 8mm pipes. We also used  two large bowled filter solenoids to help maintain the reserve of fuel that was required.

Other F150's we have had the pleasure of working on
